Our Partnerships

Any and all of our impacts are only possible through collaboration with community partners. We admire and appreciate our partner organizations and are strong advocates for the power of networks of caring mentors to impact the lives of youth. A spirit of evolution and reinvention has followed us from our previous life as a market farm to our current work as a nonprofit, and we are always open to new partnerships. Please contact info@workingtheoryfarm.com if our mission resonates and you’d like to pursue a shared goal.

Centro Cultural

Centro Cultural of Washington County supports Latino families with a wide range of programs including economic empowerment, food security, educational support, and senior engagement. We have partnered with Centro since 2019 to donate vegetables for community members to pick up at their Free Food Mercado, facilitate farm programming with seniors in their Edad de Oro program, and collaborate with Centro de Prosperidad on economic empowerment services.

Umpqua Bank

Volunteer groups from Umpqua Bank have lent a hand at WTF since 2020 and played a huge role in helping out our small team during the first year of the Covid-19 pandemic. Umpqua volunteers have also facilitated financial literacy workshops for youth employees and supported WTF staff with data entry through Community Reinvestment Act hours.

Harkins House

Harkins House is an alternative to detention operated by the Washington County Juvenile Department providing shelter, evaluation and care for youth after allegations of delinquency. We’ve partnered with Harkins House since 2019 to welcome youth to our farm once a week through their Farm 2 Fork program where youth learn about organic farming and use the vegetables they grow to feed each other and the community. We invite participants in the Farm 2 Fork program to apply for employment at WTF as they transition back to the community and we’ve employed and mentored 7 Harkins House youth over the last two years.

Latino Network

Latino Network’s Raices Program is a community-based diversion program for youth referred by the Washington County Juvenile Department or by Washington County schools. We’ve worked with Latino Network and Raices to employ youth and facilitate community service opportunities since 2022.

Home Plate Youth Services

HomePlate serves youth experiencing instability with drop-in centers, street outreach, and an array of other programs focused on homelessness and other challenges. Since 2021, we’ve worked with HomePlate to provide employment and mentorship in the therapeutic, outdoor environment of WTF.

PGE Drive Change Fund

Thanks to an award from Portland General Electric's Drive Change Fund (link two) we purchased a Solectrac e25 Compact Electric Tractor to replace our temperamental, grumbling, diesel-guzzling behemoth "Big Red." The PGE Drive Change Fund is funded via the Oregon Department of Environmental Quality’s Clean Fuels Program and prioritizes projects that serve vulnerable, under-resourced communities. We also appreciate PGE as a customer for the numerous ways that they keep the lights on here at WTF.

Hillsboro School District

The Hillsboro School District’s Oak Street Campus works with HSD students through age 21 to finish their diplomas. We’ve worked with youth in their Independent Transition Services program since 2022 to provide employment, internships, farm-based mentorship, and volunteer opportunities.
