Our Partnerships
We’ve been growing vegetables on SE Davis Road since 2013 and we are new to the world of Washington County nonprofits as of 2019. We admire and appreciate the work of nonprofits already serving this area, and we are eager to explore new ways to collaborate creatively to empower youth through the work of farming and connection with people and place. From its origins as a mobile farmer’s market to today, Working Theory Farm has constantly been evolving and we welcome new partnerships. Please contact Capers at capers@workingtheoryfarm.com if our mission resonates and you’d like to pursue a shared goal.
We’re grateful and excited for the growth to come in our existing partnerships:
Edwards Center
Edwards Center promotes independence for adults with developmental disabilities in Washington and Clackamas Counties. Volunteers from Edwards Center visit the farm twice a week to support us with farm work and to be outside and connect with community.
Centro Cultural
Centro Cultural of Washington County supports Latino families with a wide range of programs including economic empowerment, food security, educational support, and senior engagement. We donate vegetables for community members to pick up from their Cornelius office, arrange volunteer days with their senior program, and are excited to continue exploring other avenues of partnership.
Hands On Greater PDX
Hands on Portland is the volunteer program of the United Way of the Columbia-Willamette and works to connect both individuals and groups to volunteer opportunities in the Portland metro area. Opportunities will be posted on their site when we resume!
Harkins House
Harkins House provides shelter, evaluation and care for Washington County youth after allegations of delinquency as an alternative to detention. We’ve partnered with Harkins House to welcome youth to our farm once a week through their Farm 2 Fork program where youth learn about organic farming and use the vegetables they grow to feed each other and the community.
Meals On Wheels
Meals on Wheels People provides lunch for seniors throughout the Portland metro area in dining centers or via delivery to homebound elders. We donate vegetables to their Hillsboro Center to support them in their mission of senior nutrition.
Intel
Volunteers with Intel’s Involved program help us complete work projects and connect one of the large corporations of Washington County to a small nonprofit rooted in place. Through their Matching Grant program, Intel donates cash to Working Theory Farm to extend the impact of their volunteers’ time.
